#dhopap_dham #diyara_fort #sultanpur According to the Padma Purana written by Maharishi Ved Vyas, when Shri Ram returned to Ayodhya after killing Ravana, the family guru Vashishtha ji said - O Ram, you have freed the entire earth from demonic powers by killing Ravana, but there was no one else on the entire earth who had knowledge of Vedas and Vedanta like Ravana, the grandson of the great ascetic Pulastya Muni and the son of Brahmin Shiromani Vishrava, so knowingly or unknowingly you have committed the sin of Brahmahatya. To get rid of which, Shri Ram increased the pride of all Brahmins and saints by bathing in the holy water of the Gomti river, also known as Adi Ganga, in the presence of the people of Awadh on the Dashami date of Jyeshtha Shukla Paksha, i.e. 10th June. Since then, this place became revered by the people living in Awadh state and it was named - Dhopap. Many people believe that in medieval India, when the Bhars had dominion over some areas of Awadh, the Ram temple was established at this place on the banks of the Gomti river. But the certified history that is available starts from 1248. When the Chauhan Rajput king of Mainpuri, Bariyar Singh, displaced the Belkharis of the Patti state and established his empire. His descendant Rai Veer Bahadur Singh started his new dynasty at a place called Deepnagar on the banks of the Gomti river. According to a belief, after taking a bath in the Gomti river, while returning to Ayodhya by this route, Shri Ram lit a lamp here. Since the lamp is called Diya in Awadhi, it gradually came to be known as Diyara. After several generations, Raja Rudra Pratap Singh, born in 1860, devoted himself to religious and social work in the last part of his life. He made many efforts to strengthen people's faith in religious scriptures. He renovated the temples which were turning into ruins of ancient times. Due to his efforts, this Ram temple situated in Dhopapp still exists in modern times fighting with time. For the treatment of the poor, he established an Ayurvedic hospital as well as Dharamshala and Sanskrit schools. In 1886, he was appointed as an honorable judge by the Union Public Service Commission. After his death on 22 August 1914, this huge mansion containing the history of the dynasty of Diyara is turning into ruins with time. Even today, people from far-off places come here to see this mansion. The history of more than 150 years is buried in each brick of this mansion.
