Festival do Biscoito e do Queijo de Pará de Minas terá oficinas, shows e sabor de tradição
During their participation in the videocast "Papo com Geraldo Rodrigues," broadcast Monday through Friday at 1 PM on the GRNEWS YouTube channel, Isabel Faria, Municipal Secretary of Culture and Institutional Communication, and Alaércio Delfino, director of the Historical Museum, stated that the 2nd Biscuit and Cheese Festival of Pará de Minas will feature an expanded program, bringing together gastronomy, music, workshops, crafts, and cultural attractions for all ages. The event will take place on July 4th and 5th at Parque do Bariri, in a grassy area surrounded by trees, located at the corner of Amazonas and Mato Grosso avenues, a setting chosen to bring to life this year's theme: "Grandma's Backyard." Prior to that, on July 2nd and 3rd, workshops will be held for those who want to learn the craft of biscuit making. According to the Municipal Secretary of Culture and Institutional Communication, Isabel Faria, the proposal is to provide the public with a true journey into the affective memories linked to homemade recipes, family gatherings, and traditions that are part of the cultural identity of Pará de Minas. Free workshops value traditional knowledge Even before the official opening of the festival, the program will feature four free workshops on the production of artisanal cookies. The activities will take place in the days leading up to the event and will have limited spaces. The classes will be taught by master cookie makers recognized for preserving this traditional knowledge. Among them are Sônia Maria da Silveira, Maria Auxiliadora, Maria Terezinha, and Maria Raimunda, who will make her debut as a master cookie maker. Registration will open soon and, according to the organization, high demand is expected, as similar initiatives have had all spaces filled quickly in previous editions. Music, culture, and entertainment for the whole family The artistic program was planned to encompass different musical styles and audiences. On Saturday (4), singer João Chaves opens the presentations with a repertoire that mixes MPB, national and international classics and original compositions. Also on the same day, Trio Lampião will bring traditional forró pé de serra to the public. The biscuit maker Nivaldete's cooking demonstration also returns to the festival and will take place in an exclusive space, allowing better interaction with the participants. On Sunday (5), the public can enjoy the classic rock of Dalvan and Banda and then enjoy Wilsinho da Floresta, who will present great hits of traditional country music. The event will also feature artistic interventions by the Circolino Company, theatrical performances by the Teatro Latte Group and performances by the artist Thiago Jackson. Culture, tourism and economy in one event In addition to valuing intangible heritage, the festival boosts various sectors of the local economy. The event involves dozens of professionals, artists, producers, technicians and service providers from the city itself. For the organizers, the Biscuit and Cheese Festival goes far beyond gastronomy. The initiative strengthens cultural identity, boosts tourism, and contributes to the preservation and transmission of Pará de Minas traditions to future generations.
