I'm visiting the Born2Fly flight school in Großenhain near Dresden, and today I get to fly a very special aircraft: the Kiebitz – an open-cockpit biplane with a tailwheel landing gear. Together with Jan, the head of the flight school, I'm learning about the unique features of this extraordinary aircraft. Right after takeoff, it's clear: the feeling of flying in the open cockpit is unparalleled. You feel as if you can almost reach out and touch the houses and landscapes. We're also accompanied by Paul, who explains formation flying and accompanies us as a photo plane. This provides some impressive perspectives of the Kiebitz in the air. Finally, I talk to Julia, who is fulfilling her dream and is currently building her own Kiebitz. How complicated is that? What motivates someone to do it? You'll find out in this video.
