Song Diving | Dr. Capital | TEDxKeioU

In this talk, Dr. Capital "dives" under the surface of hit songs to explore the musical details that create their expressive impact. Without using any technical terminology or difficult concepts, he shows how identifying and focusing temporarily on these musical details results in richer listening experiences afterwards. Song diving gives you greater immersion, enjoyment and connection with the songs you love. "A Japan-based TV personality and YouTuber who specializes in J-POP, Dr. Capital is also an artist with decades of touring and original album release experience. He is a doctor of musical arts (DMA) in guitar performance and music education, and previously held full-time professorship positions at the University of Southern California and the University of North Texas. Currently, Dr. Capital is Lead Musical Contents Creator at Ubisoft Osaka, where he creates original music and music education content for the video game Rocksmith+. Dr. Capital is a regular music theory columnist for Acoustic Guitar Magazine, a contributor to ""Koukousei no Ongagu 2,"" a high school music textbook used throughout Japan, and author of the Shueisha International book and Amazon best-seller ""Hitto Kyoku no Rizumu no Himitsu"" (Rhythm Secrets of Hit Songs). https://www.dr-capital.com/    / @drcapital  " This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community.
