SAPS TO CONCLUDE ITS CHILD PROTECTION MONTH 2026 CAMPAIGN IN THE EASTERN CAPE

The South African Police Service (SAPS), in partnership with participating government departments and various stakeholders, embarked on a series of child protection activities to address crimes committed against and by children. The SAPS will conclude its Child Protection Month 2026 campaign on Saturday, 06 June 2026, at the Ntabankulu Multi-Purpose Centre in the Eastern Cape. This was preceded by similar events in Gauteng and the Free State. The purpose of the event is to raise awareness and strengthen community action in protecting children against abuse, neglect, and exploitation by: Encouraging the reporting of crimes against children, particularly statutory rape; Educating parents, caregivers, teachers and adults on their legal duty to report crimes against children; and Empowering communities through information on the support services available to child victims.
