Solo Backpacking at Burr Oak State Park!
Redemption trip! After the early ending to my backpacking trip to Shenandoah National Park, I decided to go off on my own, this time covering almost 25 miles in 3 days. Starting off at the Burr Oak Lodge, I worked my way clockwise around Lake Hope. The first night I stayed near the Burr Oak Cove campground, then worked my way to Dock 3 for the second night due to a camp closure (thanks, Covid!) The trail around Burr Oak Lake was well maintained, well marked, and relatively flat, making it ideal for beginner backpackers. The park also offers drive-up camping and RV camping, as well as boating and fishing. Enjoy!
