After the end of The Invisible Factor, this aquarium still had one thing left to figure out: whether the substrate was truly the culprit behind all the problems we'd been dealing with for months. In this video, I return to the Invisible Factor aquarium to perform one of the most delicate changes you can make in a planted aquarium: removing the old substrate and replacing it with new substrate without completely disassembling the aquarium, while keeping the fish and shrimp inside. It's a risky process, full of mess, cloudy water, water changes, and many precautions to avoid ammonia and nitrite spikes, or any other problems with the animals. Was the substrate the real problem? Will this change finally get the aquarium up and running as it should? In this first video post-Invisible Factor, we begin a new chapter to try and bring this setup to its best. During the video, we'll see: How I remove the old sand and substrate without completely disassembling the aquarium. What precautions I take to protect the fish and shrimp. Why I don't recommend taking this process lightly. How I place the new substrate. - Which plants should I reintroduce into the setup? How will I manage the daily water changes during the first few days? And what do I expect to happen now with this planted aquarium?
