"It is as if he has done [good deeds]." Another narration states: "Whoever spends the night of Ashura in worship, remembrance of God, prayer, and supplication, Allah Almighty will also spend it as He wills." Scholars have explained this good news as a blessed life, abundance, peace, a good ending, fulfillment of desires, and divine assistance. 🕌 WHAT CAN BE DONE ON THE NIGHT OF ASHURA? • Repenting and seeking forgiveness • Sending blessings and salutations upon the Prophet • Reading the Holy Quran • Performing voluntary prayers • Engaging in remembrance of God and glorification of Him • Giving charity • Seeking forgiveness for wrongs against others • Spending the night in worship 🕌 FOUR RAK'AH AND FIFTY-FOUR ... 🕌 TWO RAK'AH ASHURA PRAYER First Rak'ah: • Al-Fatiha • Ayat al-Kursi Second Rak'ah: • Al-Fatiha • The last verses of Surah Al-Hashr After the prayer, the following supplication is recited: 🕋 يَا أَوَّلَ الْأَوَّلِينَ وَيَا آخِرَ الْآخِرِينَ لَا إِلٰهَ إِلَّا أَنْتَ 🔊 Ya O First of the first and O Last of the last, there is no god but You. ☪️ "O my Lord, the First of the first and the Last of the last! There is no god but You." 📿 THE VIRTUE OF ASHURA FASTING Our Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) recommended fasting on Ashura and informed us that it atones for the sins of the past year. In some narrations, it is stated: "Whoever fasts on that day, it will atone for forty years of sins." It is also narrated that: "Whoever observes the night of Ashura and fasts on that day will attain a great divine favor." 🤲 THOSE WHO OBSERVE THE NIGHT OF ASHURA WILL HAVE ALL THEIR WISHES FULFILLED Scholars have stated that Allah's will is infinite, and that those who observe this night will attain many blessings in both worlds. Instead of spending this blessed night in heedlessness, it is a great blessing to utilize it with a few rak'ahs of prayer, some recitation of the Quran, seeking forgiveness, sending blessings upon the Prophet, and supplications. May Allah grant us all a share of the grace, blessings, and mercy of the Night of Ashura. Amen. 🧕 SPECIAL NOTE FOR WOMEN Women who are menstruating or in postpartum bleeding cannot pray or fast during these days. Reciting the Holy Quran is also not possible. However, on this blessed night and day; • They can perform dhikr (remembrance of God). • They can recite salawat (blessings upon the Prophet). • They can use tasbih (prayer beads). • They can pray. • They can repent and seek forgiveness. • They can listen to religious talks and sermons. • They can engage in worship with the intention of devotion.
