Parks & Arts & HQs: The City’s Soul is Pulsing Back to Life
Parks and Arts: from the newly opened, nearly fully completed 1-acre Elevated Park at CIBC Square in Southcore to Union Summer an event park/outdoor patio and the striking new public art installations outside Union Station, this walk explores how Toronto’s civic landscape is evolving in real time and how the Soul of Toronto is healing. The Union Station barrier artwork created in homage to Indigenous culture evokes the flora and fauna of Canada and reflects how the shoreline once reached up toward Front Street. The piece, titled A Meeting of Land and Water, blends history, memory, and urban design into one continuous public canvas. Join me for a Monday morning walk through downtown Toronto in June, capturing the movement, light, sounds, and layered textures of the city as it wakes up. From elevated green space above the rail corridor to monumental transit architecture and civic art, there’s a lot unfolding in the core right now. Had to cut this one short, but I’ll be doing a longer version soon and will move westside in that next video. Views range from glass-and-steel canyon streets to newly activated public realms, showcasing how parks-and HQs/office infrastructure, and art are increasingly shaping how the city is experienced on foot. A look at how Toronto’s downtown is slowly being redefined through design, access, and public space. An exciting time for The City! By the way, I'd have to say these newly designed barrier blocks are my favourite art installation in Toronto in decades! #Toronto #DowntownToronto #CIBCsquare #UnionStationToronto #PublicArt #UrbanDesign #TorontoWalks #WalkingTour #ParksAndArts #SouthCore #FrontStreet #StLawrenceNeighbourhood #Ontario #UrbanNature #CityWalks *Disclaimer: For informational and educational purposes only.
