Was der Herrscher von Dubai mit der Tochter seiner entlaufenen Frau vorhatte, ist schockierend!
Five years ago, Princess Haya, wife of Dubai ruler Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, fled to Great Britain with her two children, fearing for her life and their future. Her escape in 2019 sparked one of the world's most significant divorce cases, attracting international attention. Haya, born in 1974 in Jordan to King Hussein and Queen Alia, grew up in an influential royal family but lost her mother in a helicopter crash at an early age. Her Western education in Great Britain and her passion for horse riding, which led her to the 2000 Olympic Games, shaped her independence. Despite an initially respectful marriage to Sheikh Mohammed, whom she married in 2004, cultural differences, a 25-year age difference, and his authoritarian attitude led to tensions. Haya's affair with a British bodyguard exacerbated the situation when Sheikh Mohammed learned of it. Threats, including a gun on her pillow and the threat of being taken to a desert prison, as well as surveillance by Pegasus spyware, forced Haya to flee. Her fear was compounded by the capture of her stepdaughters, Sheikha Latifa and Shamsa, who were imprisoned by their father after attempting to escape. In London, Haya sought legal protection. The British High Court ruled in Haya's favor in 2021, granting her full custody of her children, Jalila and Zayed, and ordering Sheikh Mohammed to pay large sums (£21.5 million one-off, £55.6 million annually). The court upheld his campaign of intimidation and the kidnapping of his daughters, Latifa and Shamsa. Today, Haya lives in a secure residence in London, where her children are receiving a Western education. Despite this protection, fears of Sheikh Mohammed's influence remain, particularly of possible kidnapping or forced marriage for Jalila. Haya's story symbolizes the struggle for personal freedom and women's rights in repressive systems. Her courage in standing up to a powerful ruler underscores the importance of self-determination and protection for children.
