The Intelligent Choir and Vocal Painting | ECA-EC Webinar

The Intelligent Choir (TIC) is a philosophy and concept by professor Jim Daus Hjernøe from Denmark. TIC refers to his musical philosophy and concept of training choir conductors to allow and inspire choristers to share responsibility for the musical process. The concept includes a pedagogical and artistic methodology with Vocal Painting signs and conducting as a headliner as well as ear training, theory, vocal art, and improvisation. Vocal Painting (VOPA) is an extensive collection of interactive hand signals to become a new language for vocal art, used to complement conventional conducting techniques of choral music. It currently consists of 75 signals and more are in the making. ———— Meet Jim Daus Hjernøe Professor Jim Daus Hjernøe is the principal teacher in Rhythmic Choir Conducting at The Royal Academy of Music in Denmark (RAMA).
