After six weeks back in Germany: In Portugal Run Part 33, I'm riding my Harley-Davidson from Lyon through Luxembourg to Trier. But will my Harley hold up? Engine sputtering, misfires, and a police intervention add some excitement. Hey everyone, I'm starting unusually early today in Lyon. After a restless night, I first check that my Harley is still secure, grab some breakfast, and plan the next leg. I was originally only supposed to head towards Dijon, but just under 200 kilometers is simply too short for today. While checking out, I chat with a local about Lyon and the changes the city has undergone. Then I pack my Harley-Davidson, check my luggage and fluids, and take another ride through Lyon. The architecture is impressive, but my impressions of some neighborhoods are quite different. Then the next problem arises: My Harley starts sputtering more and more between about 2,500 and 2,800 RPM. On top of that, there are misfires, and I wonder if the air filter is causing problems again. Nevertheless, I want to continue towards Luxembourg and Germany. After a phone call with my wife, I also realize it's already Friday, not Thursday. So, another spontaneous change of plans follows: Instead of a short leg, I ride considerably further and battle my way home on my Harley. After a long ride, several fuel stops, and plenty of traffic, the emotional moment finally arrives: After almost six weeks, I'm back in Germany. In Trier, I find a hotel, meet a large group of motorcyclists, and while looking for a restaurant, I stumble right into the middle of a police operation.
