Marcel Cartier - Claim No Easy Victories (Amilcar Cabral tribute)

Tribute to African anti-colonialist leader Amilcar Cabral, who would have been 90 years old today. Cabral co-founded the African Party for Independence of Guinea-Bissau and Cape Verde (PAIGC), playing a leading role in the liberation war against Portugal. He was assassinated in 1973 just months before the war of independence ended in victory for the oppressed people of former Portugese Guinea. The opening soundbite is a clip of Cabral speaking about the links between the struggles of the oppressed masses of Africa waging wars of national liberation and the black power movement in the United States.
