Anodised aluminium cladding for Barking Energy Centre featuring 3,000m² of perforated UnAtex® panels powering a district energy network that serves 10,000+ homes and saves 12,000 tonnes of carbon every year. ⚡️ For this high-profile civic project, United Anodisers partnered with Central Fabrications Midlands Ltd to develop a bespoke UnAtex 2131 anodised finish, engineered for long-term durability in a demanding C4 industrial environment. A series of samples were produced and tested, exploring reflectivity and textured designs to create a finish unique to the scheme. All panels are finished to BS 3987, and the UnAtex finish is guaranteed for 25 years against weathering and corrosion. The robust, low-maintenance system forms the visible "armour" of a building where function is celebrated – pipes, flues and heat stores on display, with a Visitor Centre welcoming the public to see the energy infrastructure in action.
