Canon RF 24-105mm f2.8 NOT For Corporate Event Photography?! REVIEW

This is my raw, real experience using the 24-105mm f/2.8 at actual corporate and political events. I almost made a costly mistake in Houston - here's what happened. WHAT I TESTED: • Corporate CEO retreat in Houston (dark, challenging lighting) • Political event in Washington DC (natural light) • Both events shot primarily with this lens • Compared directly to my trusted 70-200mm f/2.8 WHAT DIDN'T WORK: • Distance limitations in large conference rooms (100-2000 people) • Not enough reach even with 1.6x crop on 45MP sensor • Had to walk significantly more to get close-up shots • Restrictions from video production teams made positioning harder • Almost ordered emergency 70-200mm delivery to Houston! WHAT I LOVED: • Noticeably lighter than 70-200mm (about "two feathers" lighter!) • Internal zoom - no lens extension while zooming • Incredibly sharp throughout the range • Excellent light gathering at consistent f/2.8 • Perfect for travel setups with minimal gear MY HONEST RATING: 7.5/10 Why not higher? I need that extra reach for the types of events I shoot. Even at 200mm on my 70-200, I'm still cropping for those intimate, up-close shots that clients love.
