Border Chaos, Bad Roads & Beautiful Waterfalls | Una National Park Vlog | Family Travel in Bosnia

What should have been a quick and easy day trip turned into a 10-hour adventure we’ll never forget. Our plan? Drive from Zadar, Croatia to Una National Park in Bosnia and Herzegovina — explore the waterfalls, then head back the same day. But Google Maps had other ideas… After leaving Zadar at 6:30 AM, we were routed to an impassable border road that may not have even been legal, almost wrecked our rental car, and arrived nearly 5 hours later at a place that was supposed to be just 2.5 hours away. That said, Una National Park is absolutely stunning. The waterfalls, the scenery, and the peacefulness of this lesser-known destination are totally worth it — just not as a day trip from Croatia. If you’re staying in Bosnia, definitely go! But from Croatia? Do not attempt a day trip from Zadar — the roads and border crossings are unpredictable and in bad condition. 2. If visiting from Croatia, check your route manually (don’t fully trust Google Maps) and don't drive down any dirt roads like we did! 3. The best experience is had staying overnight in Bosnia to explore more of the park - we wish we had done this! 4. Štrbački Buk is the most famous waterfall — worth the stop if you’re nearby. 5.
