Tensions in the Middle East continue to escalate as Iran launched a retaliatory attack on US military bases. The incident occurred on July 12th, when the Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) confirmed the use of ballistic missiles and drones to target these bases. Iran claimed these attacks were in retaliation for a previous airstrike by Washington. According to Al Jazeera, targets included Prince Hassan Air Base in Jordan, Al Udeid Air Base in Qatar, logistics centers supporting US aircraft carriers at Duqm port in Oman, and US military facilities in Kuwait and Bahrain. In total, five Gulf states were directly affected by this attack. Immediately, the Gulf states unanimously condemned Iran's actions. The Qatari Foreign Ministry called this a "dangerous escalation," a violation of sovereignty and territorial integrity, and a blatant breach of international law. Bahrain accused Iran of carrying out "systematic" acts of aggression and urged its citizens to remain vigilant and its military to maintain the highest state of readiness. Although not directly targeted in the latest attacks, Saudi Arabia and Lebanon also expressed their displeasure with Tehran. The Saudi Foreign Ministry emphasized that Iran had violated the principles of international law, the UN Charter, and the Charter of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation through repeated attacks on commercial ships in the Strait of Hormuz. Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam also condemned the attacks, affirming solidarity and support for his fellow nations.
