Hendrix Winwood Casady & Mitchell - Voodoo Chile {Take #1} (Live 1968, Record Plant, NYC, May 2)
The HISTORIC MAIDEN VOYAGE to JUPITER... After getting an enormous amount of positive feedback & encouragement from fans all over the world, I decided to be more boisterous regarding my focus on Master Hendrix and his direct relation with the IMPERIAL CATALOGUE... Thus, I already released his jam at the ROYAL ALBERT HALL with Master Wood & Master Mason... {Please see... • Video } And Now, WITHOUT FURTHER ADO... I am unleashing the final {yet INITIAL} piece from that night at the Record Plant... As the Masters came over to the studio from the Scene Club, Eddie Kramer was still busy mixing stuff that was recorded earlier that day... As they settle in with their friends, they start off the PROCEEDINGS with what I call a "WARM UP JAM"... Goes without saying, Master Hendrix had a general idea regarding the direction he wanted to take "Voodoo Chile"... Consequently, Take #1, eases in as an INSTRUMENTAL ONLY... At this juncture, I MUST point out that the initial few minutes of Take #1 are cluttered with multiple stoppages, mic placements and various distortions... SALVAGE OPERATION.... Luckily, the last 7 minutes of Take #1 is an undisturbed/non-stop FEAST for us all...It is when the BLUES JAM really starts... allowing for a segway into the LEGENDARY Take #2 {Broken String... • Hendrix Winwood Casady & Mitchell - Voodoo... } which of course led to the officially released Take #3 that we all know and love on "Electric Ladyland"... MAKE NO MISTAKE... Take #1 STANDS TALL on its own merits... A superb JAM around the general structure of "Voodoo Chile"... nothing BROKEN HERE, everyone meaning business, especially, Master Mitchell TAKING NO PRISONERS... "Voodoo Chile" - Finally Complete... Enjoy Loud...
