The Lost Jersey Western Railway | St Aubin to Corbière | Railway History Walk (Part 1)

The Lost Jersey Western Railway | St Aubin to Corbière | Railway Walk & History (Part 1) Join us on Paths to the Past as we begin a brand new four-part series exploring the fascinating story of Jersey's lost railways. In this first episode, we walk the route of the former Jersey Western Railway extension from St Aubin to Corbière, searching for surviving railway architecture and discovering what remains of a line that once carried passengers to the island's spectacular west coast. Along the way, we uncover the history of the railway using fascinating archive photographs, historic maps and contemporary newspaper reports, revealing how the extension was built, how it operated and ultimately why it disappeared. Even decades after the last train ran, traces of the railway can still be found—if you know where to look. This film was recorded during our recent holiday to Jersey and is the first of four episodes exploring the island's remarkable railway heritage. Have you visited any of the surviving railway remains in Jersey? We'd love to hear about your discoveries in the comments.
