Building Han Solo’s Original Ship | Resin 1/350 Tantive IV Build

Before the Millennium Falcon… Han Solo almost flew a completely different ship. In this video I recreate a studio-scale miniature of the Rebel Blockade Runner (Tantive IV) using an out-of-production 1/350 resin garage kit. While researching the build, I discovered the incredible production history behind this design — including its origins as the early “Pirate Ship” concept that was once intended to be Han Solo’s ride before the Falcon existed. This project involved heavy resin cleanup, custom electronics, engine lighting, scratch-built internal couplers, and even a motorized radar dish inspired by the original filming miniature. We’ll also take a deep dive into the archival model shop history at Industrial Light & Magic and explore how this ship evolved into the iconic vessel seen in the opening moments of Star Wars: A New Hope.
