We are delighted to announce that Tatsuhiro Sakamoto has signed a new contract with Coventry City. The winger has agreed terms on a new deal, which will see him extend his stay with football club until the summer of 2027. Sakamoto joined the Sky Blues back in July 2023 from K.V. Oostende and has gone on to make 72 appearances across all competitions, scoring 11 goals. Tatsu rose through the ranks at Montedio Yamagata, before going on to have spells with Cerezo Osaka and K.V. Oostende, as well as representing Japan on two separate occasions. So far this season, Sakamoto has made 40 appearances, scoring four goals and producing five assists. Following the agreement of his new deal, Sakamoto gave his immediate reaction: “I’m so happy to sign a new contract. I want to thank the club for my contract, I am so happy and grateful they have given me a new contract. “I was worried about a few things, because I have moved my family to the UK from Japan, it had been difficult because of my English, but the Gaffer, coaches, my teammates, the staff and the supporters have always helped me. “They have all helped me settle into this country and at this club, so this is a reason why I wanted to stay and sign this new contract.” Follow us on Facebook: / coventrycityfc Follow us on Twitter: https://x.com/Coventry_City Follow us on Instagram: / coventrycityfcofficial Your Sky Blues. 🩵
