It was supposed to be a "gem after a general overhaul," but it turned out to be a complete disaster. I bought a legendary Unitra Diora WS442 amplifier, supposedly "after service." What I saw after removing the cover was outrageous! In this video, I'll show you what a dishonest "service" looks like and conduct a full, thorough restoration of this Polish audio classic. The previous "specialist" left a lot of dirt inside, cracked the plastic front panel, and made absurd modifications – including removing the phono diode and replacing the initial green LEDs in the VU meter with yellow ones! Worse still, measurements showed a voltage drop across the emitter resistors of 3mV and 7mV, instead of the required 20mV. The unit was crackling, intermittent, and not maintaining its parameters. I decided to disassemble it down to almost every screw and restore its factory shine, while also correcting a few factory imperfections. In this episode, you'll see a comprehensive WS442 repair: Post-service condition verification: I show the mess, amateur mistakes, and mechanical damage. Cleaning and disassembly: The amplifier was disassembled and thoroughly cleaned. Potentiometer and isostat regeneration: All switches were disassembled, cleaned, and preserved (I had to replace the volume potentiometer, which was failing at 3/4 power). Full recaping: Replacing all electrolytic capacitors with new ones. Bias setting: Calibration of the emitter resistors to the correct values ​​(20mV). Phono preamplifier repair: Fixing a fault causing terrible noise. New look and lighting: Installing a new CNC laser-etched scale and stabilized LED backlight. - Bug fixes: Restored the correct logic for the VU meter and the missing phono diode.
