Why I Don't Carry Field Notes
Two questions people always ask me: Why are your pocket notebook pages folded, and have I ever tried Field Notes for everyday carry. It just so happens I feel the answers are connected. I carry a 50¢ composition notebook. It is a system I've used for years, going back to jotting notes as a firefighter on shift. As the system has evolved I now transfer those notes into my catch-all journal in my Field Folio. Some of it even feeds into sketch ideas and illustrations down the line. I like Field Notes, and I'm not ruling them out down the road. But being someone who enjoys collecting, I know exactly what happens when something comes in limited editions.
