Stranded in Sri Lanka… So We Explored the Country Instead 🇱🇰 #srilanka

Sri Lanka was never part of the original plan… but because of the conflict affecting flights back to the UK, we decided to stay and explore this incredible country instead. Our adventure begins in Negombo near Colombo, where we finally relax on the beach after a long journey. We meet local Sri Lankan guys, dance together on the sand, enjoy the sunshine and experience the amazing energy of the country for the first time. At night, we head to Katunayake searching for one thing: authentic Sri Lankan Kottu Roti. The loud chopping sounds, the street atmosphere and the spicy flavours made it one of the most unforgettable meals we’ve had. The next day we discover the reality many locals are facing, with huge fuel queues and petrol shortages across the country. We try to show the real side of Sri Lanka and daily life during difficult times. Then comes a long local bus journey to Dambulla through the countryside, packed with character, old-school buses, street sellers and chaotic energy. From food vendors to random tennis rackets being sold through the windows, every moment felt unique. Finally we climb to the incredible Dambulla Cave Temple in the intense Sri Lankan heat, explore the ancient caves, meet monkeys taking selfies with monkeys and witness a completely different world from what we know back home.
