Symptoms of Parkinson's disease include resting tremor, hypertonia or cogwheel rigidity, hypokinesia (or bradykinesia or akinesia), and postural instability. Treatment is based on compensating for dopamine deficiency, either with medication (levodopa parkinsonism or L-dopa, COMT inhibitors, MAO-B inhibitors, dopamine agonists, amantadine), or with deep nerve stimulation.
