Differences Between Male and Female Salak Trees - To distinguish between male and female salak trees, we usually look at the flowers, which are clearly visible. Another way to distinguish male and female salak trees is by examining the seeds. If a salak fruit contains three seeds, choose the smaller ones. Larger seeds will usually grow into male salak trees. If you're growing from seed, it's impossible to predict whether the salak tree is male or female. Therefore, by selecting seeds carefully, choose small seeds for females and large seeds for males. Salak trees are imperfect because they lack stamens and pistils in a single flower. There's also a snake fruit that has both stamens and pistils in one flower, the Balinese snake fruit.
