A Remarkable Encounter with Beluga Whales in the White Sea | "Depth — Playing Without the Rules" YouTube Description Beluga whales swim toward a camera abandoned on the bottom of the White Sea. There are no divers, cameramen, or people nearby—only the wild animals and the lens, which has become part of their underwater world. "Depth — Playing Without the Rules" is a documentary film by underwater cameraman and director Pavel Karchevsky. In the summer of 2025, a film crew set off for the Solovetsky Islands to observe beluga whales in their natural habitat. However, instead of traditional underwater filming with divers, an unusual experiment was conducted: the camera was installed underwater and left unattended. This solution allowed us to capture rare moments of interaction between the beluga whales and the camera and show their natural behavior without the direct intervention of the film crew. This documentary is about trust, patience, and the amazing world hidden beneath the surface of the Arctic sea. About an encounter that only happened because humans decided to step back and let nature determine the rules of the game.
