ASC RM-127 - Alert - Story City, IA - 5/21/22

(Siren Starts at 1:10) I do apologize for the loud wind noises throughout this video. It was very windy today. Anyways, after hearing that Alex wanted to film this RM-127, I decided to join him since this would be our first time hearing one of these things in person. This was also the last siren that I needed to record in Story City since I already filmed the STL-10 and P-10 last year. I got here with 15 minutes to spare so I walked around to see if I could find a good spot to set up at. Finding a good spot to set up wasn't hard but the difficult part was finding a spot to where the wind wouldn't be too big of a deal. Obviously, I failed at that but I don't really care. Eventually, Alex arrived with like 5 minutes to spare so he was frantically setting up his camera equipment. When noon came, nothing. After 10 minutes of nothing, I decided to call the EMA for Story County to see if they were testing. They indeed said that they were going to test but forgot. Typical Story County lol. Not even 10 seconds after I got off the phone, I began to hear tones rolling in from our scanners. After around a minute of tones rolling in, Story City's tones were finally heard and this RM-127 roared to life for a minute & a half of alert. I gotta say, this RM-127 wasn't the loudest siren that I've ever heard but it was definitely one of the punchiest! I mean, it was obviously not as punchy as their STL-10, but it was still very powerful overall! Thankfully, I brought my hearing protection with me to this one so my hearing was spared. After the test, me & Alex got a bite at Mcdonald's and had a great time for a few more hours. Overall, today was a very fun day. I hope to come back to Story City at some point to re-record this RM-127 and their P-10 when the weather is clear out again. That's all I gotta say for now. Check out the info below!
