Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum received her Swiss counterpart, Guy Parmelin, at the National Palace to strengthen economic, trade, scientific, and diplomatic cooperation between the two countries. The visit coincided with the commemoration of 80 years of diplomatic relations and the bicentennial of the first Swiss consulate in Mexico, which will be celebrated in 2027. During the meeting, both leaders highlighted the growth in trade, which reached $4.272 billion in 2025, as well as collaboration in cultural heritage, the environment, science, and innovation. They also met with Swiss business leaders to promote new investments in Mexico. Parmelin reaffirmed the interest of Swiss companies in expanding their presence in the country and congratulated Mexico on hosting the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
