Ghana Music Map｜8 Cities from Accra to Bolgatanga｜Highlife & Hiplife

A 38-minute instrumental journey across Ghana in one continuous arc, from the highlife birthplace of Accra to the raw kologo trance of Bolgatanga. No vocals; pure instrumental storytelling. Each track is composed from the music of its place: the highlife and azonto of coastal Accra, with its Ga kpanlogo traditions; the Fante palm-wine guitar and sea-forts of Cape Coast; the Nzema-Ahanta Kundum festival drumming of Axim on the western coast; the Ashanti court of Kumasi, where fontomfrom royal drums and talking atumpan answer the adowa dance; the Ewe polyrhythm capital of the Volta Region around Ho, layering agbadza and adzogbo into hypnotic complexity; the northern Dagbon court of Tamale, its lunsi talking drums shaped by Sahel-adjacent, Islamic-influenced song; the Dagara-Lobi gyil xylophone and bewaa dance of Wa in the Upper West; and finally the Frafra kologo lute of Bolgatanga in the Upper East.
