This is the final episode of our 8-part childhood cancer journey, documenting what life is really like after childhood cancer and 2 years post treatment. Over the past two years, we’ve shared everything — from diagnosis, hospital stays, and intense treatment, to the emotional reality of cancer recovery and the challenges of rebuilding life as a family. But as many parents and families know, life after childhood cancer isn’t as simple as just “moving on.” In this final chapter, we take you through the last 3 months of our journey — a period filled with special family moments, travel, and creating memories, but also the reality of relapse fears, health scares, and the ongoing anxiety that comes with being a childhood cancer survivor family. This is the truth about post treatment life. The balance between trying to enjoy normal life again while dealing with the fear, trauma, and uncertainty that childhood cancer leaves behind. Learning how to parent after trauma, trust your child’s health again, and slowly rebuild confidence in everyday life. We also share a recent relapse scare that reminded us just how quickly fear can return — something many families facing cancer recovery will understand all too well.
