A woman entered the house carrying an alabaster jar. She was a desperate woman, a sinner by society's standards, possibly physically and mentally tormented. She wept at Jesus' feet and wiped her tears with her hair. She also broke the alabaster jar and poured the perfume on Jesus' head. The estimated cost of that perfume was 300 silver coins, which is equivalent to a laborer's one year's wages. Usually, no one can save more than 10 percent of their income in a year, which means she used her entire savings to anoint Jesus. The aroma of the perfume filled the house. However, people around her criticized her, highlighting that she was a sinner and the money she spent was a waste. Finally, Jesus broke his silence. He appreciated her act and blessed the woman. He said that wherever the gospel is preached, her act will also be remembered. She went back home burden-free, blessed, and satisfied.
