However, he warns that Spain's position is contradictory, having replaced Russian gas with liquefied natural gas from the United States while simultaneously deteriorating its energy relationship with Algeria. "You can't do both at the same time," he summarized. In this context, Ramírez believes the Spanish government's main concern now lies on the economic front. He explained that the major companies listed on the IBEX 35 have expressed their concern to the government about the possibility that a deterioration in relations with Washington could affect their businesses in the United States. The journalist noted that the United States is one of the main foreign investors in Spain and a strategic partner for numerous sectors. Although he rules out a direct embargo due to Spain's membership in the European Union, he believes Washington could adopt targeted trade measures against specific products or sectors. The geopolitical crisis also poses a global energy risk. Ramírez emphasized that a potential blockade of the Strait of Hormuz would particularly affect Asian economies, although Europe would not be spared.
