Summer on the Homestead! | Building a Sheep Shanty + Shearing our Sheep for the 1st Time!

#HomeFreeAlaska #OffGrid #Alaska One week ago we invested in a flock of SHEEP for our homestead in Alaska! Pursuing our passion to live a life as self sufficient as possible, adding this flock to our homestead will provide dairy products & meat for our family for years to come. Our sheep are icelandic/shetland cross. They are a wool breed so today we'll be shearing them for the very 1st time! We plan to shear the sheep once a year each spring to help keep them cool in the warm summer months & allow them to grow a new coat to keep warm during the Alaskan winters.
