Thermoplastic Starch & How To Make It

Greetings everyone, and welcome to the first "actual" Edenia installment. Plastics are everywhere, we use them ubiquitously in our daily lives. While many plastics are produced as a side product of the petroleum industry, there is a novel interest in bio-derived plastics that also biodegrade, thereby avoiding the problem of pollution. A common bioplastic used today is Polylactic acid, or PLA, which is used a lot in 3D printing applications. However, there are many other bioplastics out there. In this video, I discuss the easy-to-make and highly customhouse plastic known as thermoplastic starch, which can be made from things you find in your home. This plastic is soluble in water, and probably other polar solvents, has some optical clarity, and can be easily made as hard or soft as one chooses with the help of safe plasticisers such as glycerin. I hope you find this video informative, interesting, or indeed both. Stay tuned for next time! -- Notes for Newcomers -- My name is Adam. I am a sustainability enthusiast and an advocate for a post-scarcity world, and a new social structure and value system I coin Community Ecology. On my channel, you can find out more about these systems and structures, why we should move towards them, and much more, like self sufficiency and maker related stuff.. My video titled "RBEs in 60 seconds" gives a short, snappy, truncated description of "Resource Based Economies", which is the term I originally used to describe post-scarcity.
