Gisele Vienne's installation for the 2012 Whitney Biennial continues her career -long investigation into the tension between the artificial and the real. Her work revolves around notions of evil, adolescence and the uncanny, and the world she portrays is often at the very edges of normative human behaviour. 'Last Spring, A Prequel' is part of a ongoing series entitled 'Last Spring'. The piece is her third collaboration with American writer Dennis Cooper.
