Making a Steel Trap to Catch Explosions

I build a lot of things that tend to explode, catch on fire, or otherwise try their best to tear themselves and everything around them apart. So I decided it was time to finally make my ideal testbed. It’s overbuilt, modular, fire suppressing, data-recording, portable, built for filming, and tough enough to handle all my bad ideas—present and future. In this video I design and build a steel box that can safely contain rocket tests, igniters, pressure failures, flames, and whatever else I throw at it. Along the way there’s welding, drilling (so much drilling), constrained-layer damping, a LED lighting system, a fire-suppression system, a remote firing controller, and plenty of questionable decisions.
