MTA NYC Subway Ride: R160 (E) Train to 62nd Street-New Utrecht Avenue (via 4th Avenue and West End)

Taken 7/13/19. Read the entire description for the explanation. A ride on a rerouted (E) train south of Union Street. Due to a power outage in Manhattan affecting multiple parts of the system, many trains were rerouted, truncated, or suspended. (E) trains were rerouted down the (R) past Queens Plaza, and according to the MTA website, were suppose to terminate at Whitehall Street. This was not possible however because the power outage affected the ability to turn at Whitehall, and there was a G.O. in effect rerouting all NB local trains from Brooklyn via the Manhattan Bridge from DeKalb Avenue. The trains needed to be sent into Brooklyn. This (E) train was originally supposed to terminate at 36th Street, as heard in the announcements in the first part of the video. It is likely that this train would have gone to 9th Avenue, and then be sent back north towards Jamaica. This did not happen however, because an (R) train was already on the middle track at 9th Avenue. As a result, the train was sent further south on the West End Line. This train was also supposed to go via West End Express, but ultimately made local stops. Because there was no service on the northbound West End Line, the train could not reverse back via 4th Avenue. Thanks for watching! Like and subscribe for more content!
