With the E60 5 Series, BMW dared to make a radical departure from the previous 5 Series models in 2003. But beneath the controversial sheet metal lay many innovations that are now standard in the luxury class. With ambitious lightweight construction and significantly advanced drive technology, the E60 also set benchmarks in performance that, in some cases, have remained unchanged even in today's models.
