Welcome to our first-time watching as we react to The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug (2013). We finally got our first look at a dragon in Middle-earth! Smaug voiced by the one and only Benedict Cumberbatch who did an excellent job with his performance. Directed by Peter Jackson, "The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug" follows Bilbo Baggins and the Company of Dwarves as they continue their perilous journey to reclaim Erebor. Along the way, they encounter treacherous enemies, including the fearsome dragon Smaug, who guards the Lonely Mountain with ferocity. We got to see quite a few characters from "The Lord of the Rings" make an appearance here. From Legolas to Sauron there were definitely quite a few surprises we were not expecting We hope that you enjoy our reactions, commentary and discussions as we delve into the film's themes and how it impacted the fantasy genre.
