According to the latest NCRB Report, the crime rate against women has been rising. What are some of the reasons for this increasing crime against women in India? 1. Gender relations: A patriarchal and sexist society acts as a biggest deterrent to the upliftment of the female gender. 2. Social Norms support violence against women: Many socially accepted norms like purdah, dowry, hate against women acts as a catalyst for the increasing crimes rates against women, and often justifies heinous crimes against them. 3. Lack of access to resources like education, empowerment opportunities since childhood, and basic health care facilities often leads to a society where the bargaining power of women gender is a lot less. 4. Lack of implementation of various rules and guidelines. Example - Vishakha guidelines haven't been implemented to its full potential. 5. Police Failure: The attitude of State Police and its incapability of catching criminals against women further gives impunity to the culprits to roam free and commit crimes.
