Annie Bodha - Djaal Biene

Mrs. A. Ch. Bodha, who was born in Surinam, has taken a great interest in songs and music ever since her childhood. At the age of eleven, she was already singing her first religious songs in the Arya Dewaker Temple in Paramaribo. She became very popular among the people around her because of these talents. However, although she had such an interest in songs and music, she never had any opportunity to become internationally known. In 1971 she founded her band, the Prem Sangeet Naari Samaadj, which soon became very popular. Thanks to the help of the Surinam government she represented her country successfully during the Carifesta songfestival in Jamaica 1976.
