I took this photo from Natural Bridges National Monument, Utah, in 2012. 30 second exposure with a new moon, and about as close as you will get on planet earth to no light pollution. Most of the stars you see are from our own Milky Way, of course. However if you look closely at the top of the frame you will see what I believe is the Andromeda Galaxy: our closest galactic neighbor @ 2.5 million light years away, and containing **1 trillion of its own stars**.
