Pubs in Royal Leamington Spa

Hairy Traveller visits some of the best pubs in Leamington Spa town centre and discovers a rich variety of Leamington spa pubs from gastro to local boozers with a rich sens of history. #pubs #leamingtonspa The old library is just an enormous pub right opposite the bath house. I am sitting in what I believe was the original theatre in Leamington Spa. It's 19th century and next door to it was the old library again the first library in Leamington Spa. So, it used to be called the Jug and Jester and now it's called the Old Library for obvious reasons. Popular pub with locals and apparently there's decent food in the evening and has live events, karaoke, etc. I'm drinking a pint of Timothy Taylor and it's kept well. So, it's just like old Timothy and they even gave me a discount for my Camra membership card. So, here's to the Old Library in Royal Leamington Spa. Cheers. Murphy's. This is definitely a genuine boozer right in the heart of Leamington Spa. But originally, the building dates back to the early 19th century. Used to be a grocers and then it became the first wine bar in Leamington Spa, but since the 1990s, it's been run as Murphy's by Kev, Kevin Murphy. And as I said, great community feel here. They also have a Murphy Fest every August bank holiday, I think it is. So you have bands playing here. Lots of involvement with the local community and special meal evenings. It's a special deal. So like £8 for for a meal. So really really good value. And this is a Slaughterhouse beer. It's called Aright. Alright. Alright. And definitely a bitter. Quite light. Good one for lunchtime from a local Warwick brewery. So good pint. Excellent little boozer. Lots of character to it. Here's to Murphy's in Leamington Spa. Cheers. It's hard to imagine when you're inside this place, but the Drawing Board is actually a grade two listed Regency building, but inside you have this treasure trove from the its owner Sam. You've got all his comic books. He's a graphic designer. There's a couple of drawing boards here, hence the name. So, if you're into your comics, very, very popular place to come to, but also a lot more than that. You know, there's so much detail in here. A bit of whimsy. See if you can see Christopher Walken if you come here. And it has some of the best food in Leamington Spa. When we did our first video back in Shrewsbury, we went to the Armoury and Sam was the chef at the Armoury. So, great food and also it's a pub. Wonderful beer. This is Purity Brewery which is just down the road in Warwickshire and Jimbo. Very decent pint of bitter to me. A little bit sweet on the back. So, not a really normal more rounded bitter, shall we say. Excellent pub. Lots of character. The drawing board in Royal Leamington Spa. Cheers Somerville Arms is definitely a local boozer. It's named after a sea captain called Somerville. It's a 19th century pub. And back in the times, it used to have various different bars. One was for men drinking, one is for women being on their own, and one is for men and women being accompanied. Now, of course, anybody can go into any bar. It's Everards Brewery, and so this is their Tiger beer. It's a copper ale. I haven't had this for a while, to be honest. And it's definitely got full of flavour. To me slightly fruity for for a bitter, but lots and lots of flavour to it. They don't do food, although they have a food truck outside, which I think is on Friday nights, and they have plans of opening up a a restaurant at the back. Lots of music, karaoke night, live Irish music, and of course a quiz. Definitely a local boozer. Very good place to come. Somerville Arms here in Leamington Spa. Cheers. Sync to video time
