Why the Ummah Will Never Die | Lessons from Mongols | Shaykh Dr. Yasir Qadhi
The Mongol invasion of the 13th century was one of the darkest chapters in Islamic history. In 1258, Hulagu Khan sacked Baghdad, killing hundreds of thousands and ending the Abbasid Caliphate. Eyewitness historians, like Ibn al-Athir, described it as if Islam itself had perished. Yet within decades, the Ummah revived: the Mamluks stopped the Mongols at Ain Jalut, new powers like the Delhi Sultanate and Ottomans arose, and even Mongol descendants embraced Islam. ✨ Allah’s Promise Unlike past nations, the Prophet ﷺ told us this Ummah would never be destroyed in its entirety. Calamities may devastate parts of it, but the Ummah will endure until the Day of Judgment. This divine protection has carried us through the Mongols, colonization, and countless crises. 📌 Lessons from History The Mongol catastrophe became a catalyst for renewal. Intellectual giants like Ibn Taymiyyah, Ibn Hajar, and As-Suyuti emerged after the invasion. What seemed like the end became the beginning of new strength. 🌍 Today’s Crisis: Gaza Today, the tragedy is not only the bombs and starvation in Gaza, but the weakness of the global Ummah. Two billion Muslims, with wealth and resources, watch while children die of hunger. The true catastrophe is silence and disunity. Yet, history shows us that from the ashes of devastation, Allah raises leaders, thinkers, and movements. Just as He revived the Ummah after the Mongols, He will revive it again after Gaza. ✅ Final Message Allah has promised: this Ummah will survive. But His promise is not an excuse for inaction. Every Muslim must contribute: Make du‘ā. Give charity. Speak up for justice. Strengthen your own faith and character. 👉 Do something, even if small, so that when Allah brings revival, you are part of the solution, not a bystander. #Gaza #MongolInvasion #Ummah #IslamicHistory #MuslimUnity #YasirQadhi #IslamRevival #Faith #Hope #AllahsPromise
