Accidentes de motocicleta entre jóvenes preocupan al Ayuntamiento de Fresnillo

Fresnillo, Zacatecas – The mayor of Fresnillo, Javier Torres Rodríguez, announced that the City Council is working on new traffic regulations in response to the increase in motorcycle accidents, primarily among young people on weekends. He noted that statistics from the General Hospital reflect a high incidence of admissions due to these types of accidents, and therefore the municipality is seeking to address the problem with a comprehensive mobility strategy. He also explained that they are awaiting a response from the State Government to finalize the transfer of traffic management powers to the municipality, a process that includes not only the operation of traffic lights but also a broader intervention in traffic organization. Torres Rodríguez emphasized that the circulation of public transportation and heavy vehicles will also be analyzed, due to hazardous situations observed on various roads, where some vehicles are even forced to drive on sidewalks due to lack of space. The mayor added that new municipal officers will be trained and that there are approximately 30 applications to join the traffic department. The City Council also reported that it is reviewing issues such as bidding processes, uniforms, facilities, and available resources to launch this new phase, with the goal of improving road infrastructure and ensuring safer and more organized mobility for the residents of Fresnillo.
