North Korea Firearms Shipments Arrest Announcement

U.S. Attorney Martin Estrada, along with FBI Los Angeles Assistant Director in Charge Akil Davis; Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) San Diego Special Agent in Charge Shawn Gibson; Department of Defense Office of the Inspector General, Defense Criminal Investigative Service (DCIS), Western Field Office Special Agent in Charge Bryan D. Denny; Office of Export Enforcement, Los Angeles Field Office Special Agent in Charge Gregory Dunlap; and Assistant United States Attorney Sarah Gerdes announce the arrest of Shenghua Wen, 41, who is charged with conspiracy to violate the International Emergency Economic Powers Act. Wen allegedly exported firearms and ammunition to North Korea and obtained firearms, ammunition, and export-controlled technology with the intention of exporting said items to North Korea. Wen made his initial appearance today in U.S. District Court in Los Angeles. A federal magistrate judge ordered him detained and scheduled a January 7, 2025, arraignment in this matter.
