Stationeers Rocketry: Gas Collection
Gas Collectors and gas sites The gas collector is something added as kind of a phase 2 to rocketry. Some balancing still needs to occur to make gas collection be desirable. As it is, its a niche way to get gases but the only available gas sites are in Europa, Mimas, and Vulcan. The rocket atmospherics kit can make a gas collector or a filtration. The filtration functions very similar to the filtration kit. You want high input pressure, low output pressure, and it has the related logic so you can control it. It does not have an IC housing so you would need an rocket IC10 housing to control it. It also only has a single filter slot. The gas collector has a 200L capacity and a potentially big issue. It can fault when it hold over 20MPa of pressure. When it faults, it will not equalize contents with the connected pipe network. You need to take care to not accidentally overfill it during mining or else you have to wait for it to cool down the internal gases to the point that it drops below 20MPa of pressure. It also convects and radiates to the environment it is in (either space or world when landed). As for gas sites, the best way to know a parent site can spawn gas resource sites would be likely the mess on the sites screen. A gas site lists a pressure and temperature in addition to the types of gas found. When you survey a site, it will tell you if it is a gas, ice, or ore type. Yield is ironically detrimental to gas collection because a higher yield means you get a bigger bump in gas added to the gas collector, which can make it possible to overpressurize past 20MPa. The pressure for the gas site was calculated for the listed temperature and moles if it was filling a frame (8000L). Since the collector is 200L, you'd need to multiply the listed pressure by 40x to get a basic idea of how much pressure is added before any yield multipliers. To know the total yield multiplier, just tell the rocket to mine and it will state how much the yield multiplier is. Then you can know if you will add too much, but this may not be exposed via logic.
