A historic moment for gymnastics in the Lone Star State. Texas State University has announced plans to launch the first NCAA Division I women's gymnastics program in Texas, with competition expected to begin in 2028. Olympic gold medalist Carly Patterson is helping guide the effort and says the move is long overdue for a state that has produced countless Olympians, national champions, and elite gymnasts. For decades, top Texas athletes were forced to leave the state to compete at the highest collegiate level. Now, that opportunity will finally exist closer to home.
