Philipsburg is the capital of the Dutch side of Sint Maarten (St. Maarten), and it's the main commercial hub of the island. It's known for its duty-free shopping, colonial architecture, beautiful beachfront, and vibrant atmosphere — especially centered around Front Street and Back Street, which run parallel through the heart of the town. Front Street (Voorstraat) Main attraction for tourists, especially cruise ship visitors. Known for high-end jewelry stores, electronics, perfume shops, designer boutiques, and souvenir stores — all duty-free. You’ll find big names like Tiffany & Co., Little Switzerland, Cartier, and many local jewelers. Very walkable — often crowded when cruise ships are in port.
